Frequently asked questions
- What is Patrol's MCP server?
- It is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that lets AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor work with Patrol. Once connected, your assistant can review your Shopify store's accessibility fixes, explain them, open and merge pull requests, export the visual violations that need a manual fix, and list and export the third-party violations your installed apps cause, all from chat.
- Who can use it?
- Shop developers, or members of an agency that manages the shop in Patrol. Your store must have Patrol installed.
- Which AI assistants work with it?
- Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or a desktop or command-line MCP client. Add the connection URL as a custom connector and sign in with Shopify.
- Can it change my live store?
- Only through the same pull requests Patrol opens for you in the app. Merging a pull request ships its fixes, and every pull request is recorded in your store's Patrol deployment history.
- Can I use it with more than one store?
- Yes. Each connection works on one store, so add one connection per store, each signed in with Shopify for its own store. This is the preferred way to work with several stores at the same time.
- Where is the technical reference?
- Every tool the MCP server offers, with its inputs, is listed at https://mcp.patrolapp.ai/client/docs.
